About
Floyd’s Motel
In 1952, Mr. and Mrs. Felton Floyd of Nichols. South Carolina, decided to build a summer home at North Myrtle Beach. Their objective was to provide a facility to accommodate themselves and their three children.
The structure was typical of the style of the 50’s with two efficiency apartments on each floor separated by a breezeway and stairs. Upon retirement they decided to rent the four apartments through a local agency. Later, they decided to expand so each of the four apartments was divided into eight and kitchenettes were built in each breezeway. A small two-bedroom cottage was built to accommodate the maids who came with the families.
Through the years additions were made. Chief among these were the addition of porches, upstairs and downstairs. The cottage now is a pet-friendly facility. The clientele has grown over many years and we accommodate many families and events. It has become a special place for many Society of Stranders (SOS) for weekend getaways and the spring and fall SOS events.
We take great pride in the many guests who return each year to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere, to rock in our chairs, fellowship with friends they have met here, and to enjoy the shops and restaurants all of which are located just three blocks away.
We are just a half block from the ocean. Floyd’s offers an escape from the hustle and bustle of normal vacation sites and provides a glimpse of how it was in the “good ole days”! Come and enjoy a Floyd’s experience!
